Our Story
A Journey Woven with Love, Legacy & Firgun
Where It All Began
It began in a small town in Haryana, in the wardrobe of a woman whose grace was stitched into every thread she wore. I grew up in Kurukshetra, watching my mother drape herself in delicate Lucknowi Chikankari — soft fabrics, intricate motifs, stories spun by hand. Each piece, carefully sourced from our Lucknowi neighbour, was more than just fabric — it was nostalgia wrapped in tradition.
With the woman who first introduced me to the magic of Chikankari — my mother.
A Moment of Realization
In 2017, during an official visit to Lucknow, I came face to face with the very craft I had once admired so deeply. But something had changed. The finesse, the richness, the soul of Chikankari seemed to be fading. What my mother wore with pride had lost its sheen in the race for speed and scale. The art was struggling — and so were the artisans.
The Birth of Firgun
That was the moment Firgun was born in my heart.
With a degree in Civil Engineering from NIT Kurukshetra and an MBA from IMT Ghaziabad, I had built a comfortable corporate life — but it didn’t feel complete. I began researching the artform, meeting artisans, and learning about their struggles. Many had abandoned the craft for better-paying jobs. Their hands, once revered, now lay forgotten.
In 2019, I made a decision. I left behind my high-paying job and stepped into the unknown — with no team, no network, just deep conviction and love for the art. In August 2019, our website went live. Our first official order came on 26th October, a day before Diwali. That one order lit a thousand lamps in our hearts — and since then, there’s been no looking back.
No roadmap, no team — just passion, purpose, and a quiet beginning called Firgun.
What Firgun Means
We named our brand Firgun — a Hebrew word that means the pure, selfless joy in someone else’s success. That is what we feel for the artisans we work with. Their craft, their stories, their revival — that’s our pride.
Firgun: the joy of watching others shine — especially those who stitch our dreams by hand.
Our Mission
Today, we work closely with over 5000+ artisans, breathing new life into age-old stitches and giving them the respect, recognition, and income they so rightly deserve.
Our mission is simple but powerful: to preserve this artform for future generations and empower the hands behind it.
They are the hands behind every thread — and the heart of everything we do.
